CROWLEY - Crowley Alderman Elliot Dore’ announced his candidacy for re-election to his current Ward 4 seat on Thursday. Dore has served three terms on the Crowley Board of Alderman and currently is the chairman of the Zoning and Annexation Committee. Ward 4 encompasses the majority of south Crowley.

Since 1992, he has served an active role in his hometown of Crowley. He is lector for St. Michael’s Catholic Church and also volunteers for Miss Helen’s Soup Kitchen. Dore was a member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.

He also was a member of the Board of Crowley Chamber of Commerce and served as president of the Chamber in 1993. Dore’ remains active in the Chamber to promote the business retention and expansion, growth and job creation.

He has served on the board of the International Rice Festival, including a term as President in 1998. Dore is a member of the Rotary Club of Crowley and served as President of that organization in 2006. Elliot is also a board member for the Grand Opera House of the South.

Dore’ stated in his announcement, “I have always known my hometown is a great place to live. Whether it be working or raising my family, I love Crowley and its citizens and want to continue to dedicate my time to making our city a great place for future generations.”

After completing a degree in business administration from LSU, Elliot Dore’ returned to Crowley to join his father and brother in the operation of Dore’ Rice Mill and continued to work in the rice industry for 22 years. He started a new business in 1998 in Crowley, McMakin Financial, where he serves as financial advisor to his clients.

Dore’ added, “Because of my past experience with three different councils and the many groups of people in Crowley I have worked with, I have gained great experience in working with people with different ideas to reach a common goal. I will continue to strive to be part of the solution, and not part of the problem, in keeping Crowley moving forward to become an even better place to live, work and play.”

In closing, Dore’ commented, “Even though my title and seat for which I seek reelection if Ward 4 Division A, let me be clear in that I represent ALL of South Crowley. My constituents can call me with a problem and know that it will be resolved in a reasonable time and manner. I humbly ask for your vote of support on October 2, 2010.”

Elliot Dore’ is married to the former Sandi Bourgeois and they have three daughters, Chelsea, Samantha and Ellie.
