EUNICE --Dr. Claude Oubre died on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Opelousas General Hospital. He was 74.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm Monday, January 17, 2011 at the St. Thomas Chapel in Savoy. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Thomas Cemetery with Father Darren J. Eldridge Celebrant.

Oube was a life-long educator including Eunice High, ULL and Louisiana State University Eunice.

He was a former superintendent of schools in St. Landry Parish and a author.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. Oubre of Eunice; his son, Michael Oubre and wife, Tina of Eunice; his three daughters, Karen Oubre LeDoux of Eunice, Melanie Oubre of Orlando, FL, Kimberly Oubre and Jeremy Manuel of Lafayette; five brothers, Albert Oubre and wife, Juanita of New Iberia, Earl Oubre and wife, Janet of Hesperia, Calif., Richard Oubre and wife, Shirley of San Antonio, Texas, Lynward Oubre and wife, Lynette of Broussard; and Michael Carol Oubre and wife, Jeanne of Jackson, Miss.; his four sisters, Jeanne Diamond and husband, Ken of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Sylvia Roy and husband, Arti,e, and Cynthia Russo and husband, Charles all of St. Martinville, and Mercedes La Douceur of Breaux Bridge; eight grandchildren, Jason, Alex, and Anna Oubre, Charles, Benjamin, Joshua, and Emily LeDoux and Ashton Manuel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Antoinette Pitre Oubre and a sister, Charlene Dayton.

Visitation will be at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, January 16th from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, January 17th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm.
