The organizers of the third annual Duson Mardi Gras festivities announce that Shannan Renee’ Touchet will serve as Mardi Gras Parade queen and Jason Richard will serve as king of the parade.

Touchet is the second of four children born to the late Edward Joseph Touchet and Karlis Faye Babineaux Touchet, July 12, 1980, in Opelousas.

She is employed as general manager of the Wagin Cajun Casino in Duson, a position she has held for the past three years. She has been in the truckstop/ casino industry for 13 years.

Her pastime is motorcycle riding. She is a member of Twister Sistas Motorcycle Club, where she seves as sergeant-at-arms. She also enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She is a proud supporter in the Duson cmmunity.

Toucliet is a proud parent of three beautiful children: Alexander, Emilie and Natalie Rosette.

This year’s king is Jason Richard, the son of Shirley Richard and the late Preston Richard.

He has lived in Duson for two years. For the past three years, Richard has woked for the Town of Duson.

He is a graduate of Carcenro High School. He enjoyed cooking and having get-togethers with his family and friends. As a pastime he enjoys riding horse and being outdoors.

Line up for the parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 19 at the Outer Limit in Duson. The parade entries will travel down Toby Mouton onto 343, down First Street, back to Main Stree and return to Outer Limits.

Parade entries must register at the Outer Limits. Fees are $25 each for floats and cars, $5 for horses, and $10 for four-wheelers.

Booth spaces for the street dance and chli cook-off that will follow the parade are $65 each.

Entertaining during the street dance will be the Patrick Henry Band, Georgie O, Briscoe Zydeco Road Runners, D.J. Chilly Willie and Naybors Basement, a Cajun band.
