Mrs. “Betty” was a native of the Indian Bayou community and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She retired from McNeese State University where she was employed as the head cashier.
Rev. Joe Talhelm, pastor of Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Indian Bayou Cemetery.
Mrs. Butaud is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Carol B. Fontenot of Lake Charles; one son, Blaine Butaud of Lake Charles; one sister, Dorothy H. Cormier of Indian Bayou; two brothers, George Hayes of Indian Bayou and Richard Hayes of Mire; six grandchildren, Michael Vincent, Joshua Butaud, Robin Levy, Katelyn Fontenot, Tiffany Fontenot and Breanne Fontenot; four great-grandchildren, Colin Vincent, Cade Vincent, Raven Levy and Kaydence Fontenot.
Mrs. Butaud was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gaston J. Butaud, Jr.; her parents, Reginald and Grace McCall Hayes; one sister, Myra H. Hollier.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Louisiana, 910 Pierremont Road, Ste. 410, Shreveport, LA 71106.
