JENNINGS - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Ella Verne Miller, 82, announces her passing on Monday, September 27, 2010 at Resthaven Nursing Home in Lake Charles. Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. The Miller family request visitation be observed on Tuesday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and resume on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until the time of her services. Mrs. Miller will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Robert, in Tee-Mamou Cemetery.

Ella Verne was born in the Jennings/Evangeline area to the late Allie Ortego and Felesie Hebert Boone and her husband, Emmitt. She was a homemaker. Ella loved to travel, entertain family and friends, and spend time with her great nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed playing golf in her youth. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memories are her sister, Maxine Fontenot of Lafayette; two nieces, Virginia ‘Trinka’ Ortego and Dawn Steele both of Jennings; and two nephews, Michael Wayne Ortego and Hugh B. Ortego both of Lake Charles.

Now Ella rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Allie Ortego and Felesie H. Boone and her husband, Emmitt; husband, Robert D. Miller; brother, Hugh B. Ortego, Sr.; nephew, Harold R. Ortego; and step daughter, Janie Ruth Miller.

Carrying Ella to her eternal resting place will be Micah Ortego, Jeremiah Ortego, Donnie Steele, Chris Touchet, Steve Peek, and Andy Burger.
