Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonse Catholic Church in Maurice for Ellis Mire Jr., 73, who died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at his residence in Judice.
Father O.J. Breaux pastor of St. Alphonse Catholic Church will officiate the services.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Masil Duhon Mire of Judice; his three daughters, Arleen Credeur, Debbra and her husband, Thomas Romero, Cindy and her husband, Wesley Wilkinson, all of Judice; one son, Scotty and his wife, Michelle Mire of Judice.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Nicholas and his companion, Jacqui Romero, Christie and her husband, Brian Auger, Derek Credeur, Brett and Corey Wilkinson, and Branden and Bailey Mire; three great-grandchildren Samantha Auger, Evan Auger and Parker Romero; and two brothers, Octave and his wife, Grace Mire, and Roman and his wife, Gladys Mire.
Mr. Mire was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Della Hebert Mire Sr., and in-laws, Joseph and Zadia Gary Duhon.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Mire, Thomas Romero, Wesley Wilkinson, Nicholas Romero, and Brett and Corey Wilkinson; honorary pallbearers will be Derek Credeur, and Brian Auger.
Mr. Ellis was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He work in the grocery business for 42 years, and he was a really big fan of Cajun music.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Brierre and Hospice of Acadiana, also Ellis’s family and friends for their care and support.
Visitation was held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
Burial will be held in the St. Alphonse Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne.
