Erath upends Church Point

ERATH – It was all Bobcats all night in the homecoming game Friday night, as visiting Church Point went down 57-21 to a dominating Erath squad.

The Bobcats (3-2) scored first with 7:12 left in the opeming period on a connection from quarterback Ty Bares to Coy Clostio that went for a 19-yard touchdown.

Shay Primeaux later exploded for a 77-yard score to put the Bobcats up 15-0 with 4:54 remaining.

A Church Point miscue on a reverse led to a 21-yard touhdown run by Bares to put the home team up 22-0.

The Bears snared the ball on Erath’s six-yard line after an interception. James Bellard scored on a 6- yard run and Kiamn Richar’s PAT closed the gap to 22-7 with 11:54 left before intermission.

Bares scored on a 6-yard run of his own as the Bobcats pushed ahead, 28-7 with 10:29 remaining.

Erath’s Chance Landry ended the half with a 50-yard interception for a score that had the Bobcats leading 36-7 at the break.

The Bobcats scored twice in the third period with a 22-yard run by Clostio and a 70-yard punt return by Shay Primeaux to push Erath ahead, 50-7.

Church Point’s Deion Monroe scored on an 8-yard run and Richard’s PAT closed the gap to 50-14 with10:23 left in the game.

Erath’s Ross Granger scored on a 37-yard run with 1:18 left .

Monroe exploded for a 60-yard score and the PAT closed the final margin to 57-21.

Church Point (3-2) opens District 5-3A action at home against Port Barre (1-3).
