Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass and the committal services at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Born on February 27, 1931 in Lafayette, Mrs. Raspberry was the daughter of Anthony Louis Gonzales, Sr. and Ida Labbe Gonzales. Known to some as ‘MiMi’ or ‘Nanny’, Estelle was a loving sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother and friend. Professionally, she was a Registered Nurse for many years, having graduated from Hotel Dieu Nursing School in New Orleans.
She is survived by her two children, Gregory Gerard Raspberry of Little Prairie and Christine Raspberry Dunn of Lafayette, her daughter-in-law Kathryn Moore of Crowley, as well as five grandchildren, Ashley Raspberry Leblanc, Victoria Raspberry, Meredith Raspberry, Julia Raspberry and Christian Dunn and two great grandchildren – Ava Kathryn Leblanc and Bella Klaire Leblanc. She is also survived by one brother, Anthony Louis Gonzales, Jr. of Goodyear, Arizona and his wife Sherry Gonzales and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Marion Raspberry, her parents Anthony and Ida Gonzales and one brother, Harold Gonzales, Sr.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Southwind Assisted Living Center, Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. and her caregivers, Linda Abshire and Kathy Ashworth for giving their loving care to their Mother during her illness.
