CROWLEY – The retirement of one principal forced the Acadia Parish School Board to call a special session prior to their committee meetings Wednesday night.

The board opened its special session to consider three personnel changes, all retirees, including the retiring of the Estherwood Elementary School principal and two Title One helping teachers.

The board also voted to allow advertising for these three positions immediately, a move they feel is very important, particularly for the principal’s job opening sooner rather than later.

“We have an inservice at the end of May and this will allow them to get their feet wet,” said Bourque. “And with the helping teachers we will do the same, making sure they are in place by the summer to get them ready.”

The board agreed and hopes to be able to name principals for Estherwood Elementary and South Crowley Elementary at its May 7 meeting.
