Eunice police, Crime Stoppers seeking info about man found dead in ditch

Eunice police are seeking St. Landry Crime Stoppers assistance in developing information regarding a man whose body was found in a ditch Saturday morning.

Investigators are also awaiting a coroner’s report on the death.

According to reports, a caller reported a man lying partially submerged in a ditch in on South East Street about 8 a.m. Saturday.

Responding officers subsequently identified the dea man as Johnny Spikes, 37, of Bogalousa was dead.

Though there were some marks on his head, there was nothing conclusive regarding how he got in the ditch or what might have caused his death.

There were no readily visible signs of his having been the victim of a hit and run, nor was there conclusive evidence of any scuffle or fall.

Reports indicate that Spikes has been visiting acquaintances in the area.

Anyone with information about Spikes’ whereabouts immediately preceding his death or any circumstances related to his death is asked to call the Police Department at 457-6588 or Crime Stoppers, 948-8477.
