The candlelight ceremony took place Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at the New Hope Chapel at Acadian Village in Lafayette. The honorable Judge John Trahan officiated the wedding vows.
The bride is the granddaughter of Barbara Badon of Crowley. She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in child and family studies.
The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Emanis of Duson. He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is employed by ADT Securities.
Violinist Loren Laing and cellist Ben Bailey provided musical selections for the ceremony.
The mother of the bride, the former Karen Badon, read Scriptures attired in a two-piece formal gown of iridescent caramel taffeta. She chose a coordinating hand-beaded cut-out embroidered, sheer jacket with short sleeves noted with a handcrafted rose at the ruched waistband.
The mother of the groom, the former Charlotte Emanis was escorted in a two piece formal in iridescent bronze taffeta featuring a ruched bodice and matching long-sleeved bolero.
Both mothers carried a bouquet of fresh flowers.
The bridal attendants were then presented in a sleeveless column dress of blush crinkle chiffon featuring a V-neck overlay and draped skirt. They carried dried bouquets of white wood roses, wheat and various dried white flowers.
Matron of honor was the bride’s friend, McKenzie Daigle.
Bridesmaids were Whitney Fielder, Natalie Harmon and Brittany John, friends of the bride.
Best man was T.J. Guillot, friend of the groom.
Groomsman were Nicholas Arnold, Will Casanova and Brandt Daigle, friends of the groom.
Escorted by her father, the bride was stunning in a strapless wedding gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice accented with a pearl sash that attached to the empire waist. Completing the ensemble was a sheer overlay of Alencon lace over the trumpet skirt. Her headpiece was a simple veil, and she carried a bouquet of dried blush peonies, wheat and various small dried flowers in tones of white and soft green.
In keeping with tradition, the bride wore a broach pinned to her bouquet from her late grandmother, Carol Spaetgens, as something old. Her wedding dress was new, she borrowed her veil and her shoes were blue.
Ushers were Don Meaux, Garrett Meaux and Tyler Meaux, brothers of the groom, and Jacob Spaetgens, brother of the bride.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception at the ULL Art Museum in Lafayette. Among the vintage theme decorations found throughout the reception area were bird cages, birds, fresh flowers, bird cage lanterns, vintage books, and pictures of family and friends.
Among the refreshments was the bride’s cake which featured two love birds atop a tree trunk base. Serving the cake was Cheree Joubert, godmother of the bride.
The groom’s cake was a keyboard replica, representing a music theme. It was served by Gayla Emanis, aunt of the groom.
Guests traveled from as far as Texas and cities throughout Louisiana for the wedding.
Prior to the wedding on Friday, March 9, a 7 p.m. rehearsal dinner was held at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne hosted by Charlotte Meaux, the groom’s mother.
Following a honeymoon in Los Angeles, Calif., the couple resides in Lafayette.
