A seven o’clock evening Nuptial Mass at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, united Lindsey Blair Menard of Rayne and Benjamin Paul Granger of New Iberia in marriage. The double-ring ceremony was celebrated by Rev. William P. Ruskoski, pastor.

The bride is the daughter of Larry and Carolyn Menard of Rayne. Her grandparents are the late Lloyd and Beulah Guidry, the late Esta and Eunice Arceneaux, and the late Lennis and Rita Menard. Against a backdrop of musical selections provided by vocalist Jodi Bollich, trumpeter Will Green and organist Kevin Martin, guests were ushered to their seats by John Granger and David Granger, brothers of the groom.

For the ceremony, Scriptures were recited by Berna Menard, Jonathan Parich and Charlotte Bienvenue. Gifts were offered by Alex Menard, godfather of the bride, and Mike Bonin, godfather of the groom.

Escorted by her parents, the bride wore an ivory, Casablanca wedding gown featuring a fit-and-flare styling. The ruched empire bodice was enhanced with crystal taffeta and noted with a softly scooped neckline. The full skirt was embellished with beaded lace appliqués and finished with a scalloped hemline. Her headpiece held an elbow-length veil of sheer illusion finished with a scalloped hemline. She carried a bouquet of a dozen forever-young roses and half-dozen red alstromerial stems intertwined with her great-aunt’s rosary and her great-grandmother’s handkerchief.

Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day included her grandmother’s wedding ring and her great-grandmother’s handkerchief as something old. Her wedding dress served as something new, a pearl bracelet was borrowed from her mother, and something blue was her garter, along with her shoes.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was a childhood friend, Allison Cahanin. Bridesmaids were Chloe LeLeux, Teren Parrino, Jesse Daire, Alison Camp and Megan Landry, friends of the bride.

Bridal attendants each wore an A-lined dress of black lace while carrying a bouquet of three forever-young roses and three red alstromerial.

Serving as flower girl was Emma Guidry, cousin of the bride. She wore a formal, ivory dress and carried a small, natural stem bouquet of red sweetheart roses and alstromerical.

Attending the groom as best man was a friend, Trey Landry. Groomsmen were Tyler Barras, Allen Patout, Kyle Groff, Mark Landry, Adam Chapman and Lucas Menard, friends. Ring bearer was Jacob Bonin, cousin of the groom.

Male wedding party attendants each wore a formal black tuxedo with a deep red tie and ivory shirt. The lapel was noted with a boutonniere including a red rose and alstromerial.

For her daughter’s wedding, the mother of the bride wore a floor-length, fit-and-flare dress of platinum taffeta designed with a sweetheart neckline, capped sleeves, and beaded bust line along a pleated bodice. A coordinating jacket held a corsage of five red sweetheart roses.

The groom’s mother selected an A-lined, strapless gown of dark red taffeta featuring a pleated side wrap bodice designed with an embroidered floral design, and topped with a bolero jacket accented with beads and sequins. She was also presented a corsage of five red sweetheart roses.

Immediately following the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were honored during a reception held at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in Rayne.

Among the refreshments provided guests was the bride’s cake, a square four-tier confection designed with ivory butter cream frosting accented at each layer with a black trim while topped with red roses. The cake was served by the bride’s godmother, Lyn Guidry.

The groom’s cake was a traditional chocolate confection filled with an Oreo filling and topped with ULL and USF emblems. The groom’s godmother, Wanda Dore served the cake.

Guests attended the wedding from Rayne, Crowley, Lafayette, Elton, New Iberia, Loreauville, Duson and Lake Charles.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Rayne.
