The U.S. Forest Service on Monday rescinded its proposed ban that was to be in effect during the season which begins Thursday, Dec. 6 and runs through Dec. 13.
The decision came prior to a hearing scheduled in federal district court on a Louisiana Sportsman Alliance suit seeking a preliminary injunction on the ban until a hearing could be held.
The USFS did not comment on its action.
The Alliance wants hunters to have the right to run their dogs and chase deer on the forest’s thousands of acres as they have done for decades.
