ALEXANDRIA – Former Ball Mayor Roy Hebron will report June 27 to a federal prison to begin serving a four-year term.

He was sentenced on Monday by U.S. Dist. Judge Dee Drill for his part in a scheme to defraud FEMA after Hurricane Gustav in 2008.

The judge said Hebron. 56, was the primary architect of a scheme he though would enhance his popularity among voters, who had elected him mayor six times, as well as line the pockets of town employees.

Hebron was also ordered to repay FEMA $105,000 and pay a $25,000 fine.
