The bride is the daughter of Alice and Daniel Frey of Iota. She is the granddaughter of Sybil and Robert “Bobby” Frey of Iota and the late Cecilia and Murray J. Reed, Sr. of Iota.
Selina is a 2007 graduate of Iota High School and a 2008 practical nurse graduate of LTC Morgan Smith Campus. Selina is currently a member of the Iota Volunteer Fire Department and is employed at Crowley American Legion Hospital working in the nursery as an LPN.
The groom is the son of Phyllis and Ellis Cart of Iota. He is the grandson of Emely and Merlyn Istre of Mermentau Cove and Lara Matte of Iota, and the late Harold Dean Cart of Iota.
Ethan is also a 2007 graduate of Iota High School and earned an associate degree in electricity and instrumentation in 2009 from SOWEIA Technical Community College. He is also a member of the Iota Volunteer Fire Department and he is currently employed at Cross Tex Energy of Eunice.
At 6:30 p.m. November 4, the Thursday evening prior the wedding, the celebration began with a rehearsal dinner at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Brown. It was hosted by the parents of the groom.
On the day of the wedding, the bride, escorted by her father, wore a full-length strapless ivory Oleg Cassini fit and flare with a sweetheart neckline, beaded lace trumpet and shirred tulle bodice embellished with beading as well as pearls. The ensemble was completed with a sweep train finished with a scalloped edge and an ivory fingertip length two-tiered veil also with a scalloped crystal edge.
Selina chose to use her late grandmother, Cecilia Doucet Reed’s, Estee Lauder dusting powder which served to represent “something old.” Her Oleg Cassini wedding dress was “something new.” She borrowed a hair pin from her sister, Brookk Frey, and there was blue silk ribbon on her garter.
She carried a bridal bouquet filled with white lilies, ivory and deep purple orchids, pearl dogwoods and lapis Japanese blossoms. Ivory ostrich feathers were added and the bouquet was embellished with hand wrapped ivory ribbon and pearls.
Gretchen Trahan Ledoux, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridal attendants were Caroline Frey, cousin of the bride; Holly Cart, sister-in-law of the groom; Maggie Frey, sister of the bride and Brookk Cart, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids wore elegant strapless ball gowns in lapis satin with a side drape and a brooch. They carried nosegays of purple hydrangeas with ivory rosebuds, also embellished with ivory ribbon.
Joe Stemplenski played the trumpet; Jace Fogleman performed vocals and Judy Lejeune played the organ. The scripture was read by Phillip Reed, godfather of the bride and Cheryl S. Faulk, cousin of the groom. Richelle Frey, godmother of the bride and Patricia Steele, godmother of the groom brought up the offertory gifts.
Ellis Wayne Cart, II, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were John L. Zaunbrecher, Andrew Hebert, Leonard Cloud, Sr., all friends of the groom, and Codie Steele, cousin of the groom.
Ushers were David C. Frey, cousin of the bride; Tyler Bouillion, friend of the bride; Dane Cart, cousin of the groom and Alex Frey, nephew of the bride. The flower girl was Elizabeth Paige OrCutt, niece of the bride. The ring bearer was Trenton Keith OrCutt, nephew of the bride
Alice Reed Frey, mother of the bride, wore a floor-length champagne evening gown with a matching blazer accented with a rhinestone clasp. She adorned her wrist with two white orchids accented with beaded leaves and lapis ribbon.
Phyllis Istre Cart, mother of the groom, wore a floor-length cocoa evening gown with beaded embellishments, complete with a matching bolero. Her wristlet was also two white orchids accented with beaded leaves and lapis ribbon.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Grand Marais Courtyard in Jennings. There were floral arrangements highlighted at the tables consisting of lovely lilies, hydrangeas and white roses. All floral decorations were made by Phyllis Reed, aunt of the bride.
Godmother of the bride, Richelle Frey, served the four-tiered, ivory-embellished bride’s cake. With pearl scrolling throughout the cake, each tier was decorated with lapis ribbon along the bottom to match the bridesmaid’s dresses. Interestingly, the third layer of the cake had the bride and groom’s new initials, done in pearl icing. A solid ivory embracing bride and groom topped the cake.
The Godmother of the groom, Patricia Steele, served the groom’s cake. It was a delicious confection of chocolate cake formed in the shape of the Louisiana sportsman’s Fleur de Lis, decorated with pecans and surrounded by greenery, chocolate-covered strawberries and shotgun shells.
Following a honeymoon to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will continue to reside in Iota.
