 Mire - Funeral services were held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. for James Harold “Jimmy” Venable, 62, who died Sunday, March 15, 2009 <!--break-->at his residence.
Interment was in the Assumption of the BVM Cemetery, Mire.
The Very Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church, was the celebrant for the services.
Surviving are  his wife, Myrtle Venable of Mire; four sons, Ken Venable and wife Judy of Mire, Tony Venable and wife Phyllis of Mire, Gregory Venable and wife Shantel of Lafayette, and Blaine Venable of Mire; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, Leslie Venable and wife Leora of Sunset, Raphael Venable and wife Deanne of Carencro, Louis Venable of Chruch Point, Ricky Venable of Church Point, and Eddie Venable, Jr. of Church Point; two sisters, Edna Bernard and husband Harry Lee of Carencro, and Eva  Mae Venable and husband Jonathon Cushman of Opelousas.
He was preceded in death by parents, Eddie Venable, Sr. and Electa Cormier Venable; three brothers, Early Venable, C.A. Venable, and Randy Venable.
He was born Saturday, October 26, 1946 in Church Point, son of the late Eddie Venable, Sr. and the late Electa Cormier.
Friends were received  Monday, March 16, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., and Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 8 a.m. until service at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home, Inc. of Rayne.
