Mrs. Istre was a native and lifelong resident of Crowley. She was born to the late Lezime and Ophelia Ancelet Trahan on January 2, 1930 in Crowley. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Choir and the Rosary Altar Society. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and soon to be great-grandmother. She will forever be remembered by her family for her incredible faith, her strength, love of family, and her unconditional love for all.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Istre is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Mitchell Istre of Crowley; one daughter, Roxie I. Viator and her husband Jody of Lyons Point; two sons, Mike Istre and his wife Brenda of Jacksonville, FL and Ricky Istre of Crowley; one sister, Margie T. Henry of Lyons Point; one brother, L. J. Trahan, Jr. and his wife Lou of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Kristi I. Boylan of Spring, TX, Lesli I. Nelson and her husband Chris of Allen, TX and Kira O. Viator of Lyons Point; one soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Harper Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Istre was preceded in death by her parents, L. J. and Ophelia Ancelet Trahan; one sister, Mary Jean’ Trahan; four brothers, Albert, Gilbert, Hillary and Camille Prejean.
Pallbearers will be Mike Istre, Ricky Istre, Jody Viator, Chris Nelson, Matt Weber and Jonathan Habetz.
