Each year, Beta Sigma Phi honors 16 young women and 16 young men who have achieved community, academic and athletic excellence. These outstanding young ladies and gentlemen create the junior court, while the senior court consists of two members of each BSP chapter (Sweetheart and Girl of the Year) as they are voted upon by their peers.
Since the founding in 1931, Beta Sigma Phi has grown to be the largest social, service and cultural organization in the world. In Rayne, there are four active chapters, Laureate Lambda, Preceptor Alpha Iota, Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Gamma Kappa.
Young ladies honored on the junior court were Sarah Elizabeth Dupont, daughter of Chris and Michelle Dupont of Rayne; Zoe Emmons, daughter of Anthony and Lori Emmons of Rayne; Taylor Gray, daughter of Todd and Allison Gray of Rayne; Haley Habetz, daughter of Kevin and Kathy Habetz of Rayne; Taylor Hebert, daughter of Matthew and Toni Hebert of Rayne; Taylor Hollier, daughter of Sammy and Paula Hollier of Crowley; Sara Elizabeth Hollingsworth, daughter of Jimmy Ray and Pam Hollingsworth of Rayne; Cynthia Marie Ledet, daughter of Tim and Christy Ledet of Rayne; Marla K. Girls of the Year include the following BSP members: Jena Bordes of Gamma Kappa, Jimette Guidry of Preceptor Alpha Iota, Theresa Prather of Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Lois Petitjean of Laureate Lambda.
Introductions of the honorees began at 7 p.m. Emcee for the evening was Cheryl Richard of Preceptor Alpha Chi.
The first dance of the evening was enjoyed by the court, followed by a selection of the audience.
