Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. at  St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point for J. C. “Pee Wee” Abshire, 76, who died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at his residence in Kaplan.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rose Henry Abshire  of Kaplan; one daughter, Debra Miller of Crowley; two sisters, Norma Court of Crowley, and Shirley Duhon of Port Arthur; one brother, Castor Lee Abshire; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calis and Ozy Cormier Abshire; and one grandson, Dwayne Dronet.

Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m.  Friday until services.

Mr. Abshire’s family wish to express special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and also to Julie Thibodeaux and Donna Sam.

Burial was held in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley.
