Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, October 29, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. for Johnnie “John” Jean Meaux, 56, who died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in American Legion Hospital.

Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne.

Surviving are his sister, Patsy Dupuis and husband, Dennis, of Rayne; brother, Emery Meaux, Sr. of Rayne; special aunt, Theresa Breaux of Rayne; numerous nieces and nephews; and his godchildren, Chad Dupuis, Shannon Meaux and Dylan Leger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estay and Odile Arsement Meaux; grandparents Diedre and Ozelia Meaux and Alfred and Buelah Arsement; and one brother Norris J. Meaux.

He was born Wednesday, February 1, 1956, in Rayne, son of the late Estay Meaux and the late Odile Arsement Meaux.

He worked as a butcher and cashier for many years with both Dugas Grocery and Alleman’s Grocery.

Friends were received 11:00 a.m. Sunday, October 28, until 1:30 p.m. and Monday, October 29, 2012, at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne.
