The Lady Wolves collected 12 hits for the bi-district win, behind a strong showing by hurler Mariel Meche who collected five strikeouts while allowing only three hits, three walks and one hit batter.
Meche also helped on the offensive side of the stats going 2-for-2 with two triples and one run.
Kelsey Hollier was 3-4 (two singles and one triple), Courtney Boutin at 2-3 (2 singles), Ariel Meche 1-3 (single, run), Tori Mott 1-3 (sacrifice), Alex Peltier 1-2 (RBI and run), Caitlyn LeDoux 1-2 (2 RBI’s) and Kristen Gaspard 1-3 (triple, 2 RBI’s).
Rayne High collected three runs in the second and third innings, while DeSoto limited their three runs in the fifth during a couple of Rayne misplays.
With Tuesday’s win, the No. 12 Lady Wolves will travel to Albany today (Thursday) for a 5 p.m. second round state contest against the No. 6 seed.
Early on in the season, Rayne High defeated Albany 4-0 during the Bruly Tournament. The Lady Wolves are hoping to gain another win in today’s regional round of the 3A playoffs.
