GUEYDAN - A mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morse on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. honoring the life of Lovenia Mary Abshire, age 92, who was called from this life May 4, 2012 while in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Abshire will be laid to rest in Hanks Cemetery with Father Clint Trahan officiating her services.

Lovenia Mary was born in Morse on January 8, 1920 to the late Elridge LeLeux and the late Ollie Hoffpaur LeLeux. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to the care of her family. She enjoyed growing flowers, listening to music, and visiting with family and friends.

Lovenia is survived by two sons, Joseph Abshire Jr. (Zora) of Rayne and David Lee Abshire of Morse; five daughters, Lulu A. Maynard (Bob), Dorothy Abshire, Thelma A. Fuselier (Dale), Shirely Abshire, and Mary A. Hogan all of Morse; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Lovenia now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents; her husband, Joseph Abshire, Sr.; a grandchild, Rachael Touchet; four brothers, Willie, Clyde, Bufford, and John LeLeux; and one sister, Lena Breaux.

Carrying Lovenia to her eternal resting place in Hanks Cemetery will be Ronnie Maynard, Scott Abshire, Kevin Touchet, Jason Abshire, Chris Racca, and Blaine Hogan. Honorary pallbearers will include Stephen Hogan and Caleb Maynard.

Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan, on Sunday, May 6 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral services on Monday. A rorecited on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
