MAMOU – The Lady Demons (12-8; 5-5) let two District 6-2A games get away from them this week, as the Lady Crusaders of Opelousas Catholic slipped past them to score a 2-1 win Monday night, followed by a narrow 3-1 loss at Pine Prairie.
Despite accumulating nine hits against O.C., the Lady Demons were unable to convert them into runs.
The Lady Crusaders (7-11; 3-7) scored one run in the top of the second inning, adding a second in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fifth, Amanda Fontenot drove in Chelsey Guillory for Mamou’s sole run of the game.
Cydni James (6-5) took the loss for Mamou, giving up one earned run on four hits and two walks, while striking out three batters in seven innings of work.
On Tuesday, Pine Prairie (20-8-1; 8-0-1) scored first with one run in the bottom of the first inning.
Mamou managed to tie the score in the top of the fourth, as Cydni James scored Katie Landreneau.
But the Lady Panthers broke out for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Courtney Townsend and the Pine Prairie defense silenced the Lady Demon bats in the top of the last inning for the win.
Townsend gave up one hit and three walks while striking out seven Mamou batters.
On Wednesday, the Lady Demons host the Lady Trojans of Sacred Heart-Ville Platte (16-7-1; 7-1-1) starting at 4:30 p.m.
