A Mamou woman faces 73 counts of forgery over a span of the past six years.

Detective Marie Potter said Armise Amelia Duplechain (also known as Amelia Coker), 38, 309 Point St., allegedly convinced the son of an elderly man to change the address where his father’s structured settlement payments were being sent.

Duplechain then allegedly cashed the checks for the next six years, according to Potter.

She said the victims did not know what to do to correct the situation so Duplechain continued receiving and cashing the checks.

The total value of the checks over that time was not disclosed.
