AMITE – A patron disgruntled over allegedly poor service thought an assault rifle would command more attention.

According to Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards, deputies on Saturday night observed Pedro Varnado, 23, of Tangipahoa enter a night club with the rifle.

Following him in, they observed Varnado point the rifle at the crowd inside before a bouncer tackled him and the weapon was secured.

Subsequently, deputies learned Varnado was unhappy with an employee of the establishment and began making comments toward that individual.

He was charged with aggravated assault, three counts of resisting and possession of a firearm at an alcoholic beverage outlet.
