Mrs. James Tony Davis
Amy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Marquart of Crowley. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Verret and Mr. T.G. Marquart of Crowley and the late Letha Rae Cormier Marquart. She is a graduate of Crowley High School and Northwestern State University. She is employed by Mason Salter’s, Inc. in Natchitoches as assistant manager.
The groom is the son of James R. Davis of Natchitoches and the late Gloria Jean Tidwell Davis. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bossie Jefferson Tidwell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Davis. He is a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School and Northwestern State University and will receive an MBA from LSU-Shreveport in May 2011. Tony is an associate broker for Cane Heritage Realty in Natchitoches.
As they entered the ballroom, classical musical selections were enjoyed by guests. Traditional wedding pieces were played by Sandra Pruitt, great aunt of the bride, as the parents of the couple and the bridal party entered the ballroom.
Escorted by her father, the bride was elegant in an ivory Oleg Cassini sheath-style satin gown with a delicate tulle overlay that draped in a slim silhouette. The antique romantic style of the dress featured a scoop neck with beaded cap sleeves. Ruche tulle formed the bodice of the dress and champagne satin bands accentuated the waistline. Beaded lace appliqués embellished the gown’s delicate overlay all the way down to the hemline and throughout the chapel length train that flowed beautifully behind the bride. A fingertip length two-tier veil with a beautiful beaded scallop edge completed her ensemble. She carried a hand tied bouquet of antique green hydrangeas, light pink mini calla lilies, ivory roses and pink snapdragons.
In keeping with tradition the bride chose a handkerchief as her something old and blue. She chose her wedding dress as her something new and pearl jewelry as her something borrowed.
Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister, Addie Guidry. Bridal attendants included Megan Procell, niece of the groom, Alicia Pruitt and Ann Lege’, cousins of the bride, Becky Jones and Jena Bertrand, friends of the bride. The bride’s niece, Addison Guidry, attended as flower girl. Each bridesmaid was identically dressed in a serene blue strapless above knee cotton dress with a ruche bodice and ruche waistline. They each carried a hand-tied bouquet of antique green hydrangeas, light pink mini calla lilies, ivory roses and pink snapdragons.
The groom was attended by childhood friend and best man, Austin Niette. Groomsmen were Michael Lee, Stephen Lee, Christopher Sharplin, Ryan Oritz and Jason Riche, all friends of the groom. Each groomsman wore an ivory suit with white shirts and ivory neckties along with ivory rose boutonnieres.
On her daughter’s special day, the mother of the bride chose a cap sleeve knee-length dress featuring a deep V-neckline in clover green. She wore a corsage of ivory roses and light pink calla lilies.
The spectacular Point-Aux-Loups Springs Ballroom also served as the reception area for the newly wedded couple and their guests where everyone was invited following the ceremony.
The bride’s cake was a three tier ivory confection with ivory satin ribbon around each layer. The cake sat atop a magnificent silver plateau and was adorned with antique green hydrangeas, ivory roses and light pink calla lilies. Serving the bride’s cake was Sandra Pruitt, the great aunt of the bride.
A stack of books in chocolate with fudge filling was the groom’s cake sitting on an antique mahogany table depicting his love of reading. Serving the cake was Jennifer Martin, sister of the groom.
Out-of-town family members and friends traveled from Texas, Tennessee, Indiana, Arkansas and various points throughout Louisiana.
Following their trip to Key West, Fla., the couple resides at home in Natchitoches.
The groom’s father provided the bridal party and their guests with a rehearsal dinner catered by Frey’s Crawfish House in Jennings.
