Fr. Mikel Polson, Pastor of Saint Michaels will celebrate the Mass and the Committal Services at the Woodlawn Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation may be observed on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Brasseaux was born October 31, 1934 in Church Point, La to the late Louis Meche and Beatrice Bergeron Meche. She was a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, an organizing member of HOPE, and an environmental advocate. She was a cancer survivor and battled numerous cancers for 37 years.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ervin Brasseaux; three daughters, Lorna M. Brasseaux and her husband Stuart Gonzales of Downers Grove, IL, Donna Helo and her husband Kermit Helo, Jr. of Crowley, and Karen Kritzer of Dunnellon, FL; three sisters, Iris Boudreaux of Rayne, Ella Gary of Lafayette, and Benita Bergeron of Lafayette; one brother, Emery Meche of Crowley; nine grandchildren, Kermit G. Helo, III, Kyle D. Helo, Konstance H. Andrepont, Karl M. Helo, Tiffany R. Habetz, Dustin R. Habetz, Chad M. Pourciau, II, Mark Anthony Kritzer, II, and Bo Jacob Kritzer; seven great-grandchildren, Miles Khamphilavong, Dakota Forrest, Dustin R. Habetz, II (Deuce), Klayton J. Habetz, Zayden Helo, Riley Helo, and Carter Andrepont; and three great great-grandchildren, Isaias, Mia, and Geovany.
Mrs. Brasseaux is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Beatrice Bergeron Meche; and two brothers, Lloyd and Melvin Meche.
