McNeese's Ashlyn Baggett earns Capital One Academic All-District honor

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese State senior guard Ashlyn Baggett has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  Baggett was named to the District 6 team, which includes all Division I Universities from the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Baggett, a native of Iota, was named to the first team where she will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first , second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Baggett is a recent Nursing graduate who possessed an overall 3.77 GPA.  She currently leads the Cowgirls with 17.8 ppg. And 1.8 steals per game.  She is second on the team with 2.6 assists per game.

Joining Baggett on the District 6 team is Arkansas Calli Berna, South Dakota State’s Ashley Eide, Iowa’s Morgan Johnson and Northern Iowa’s Jacqui Kalin.
