HATHAWAY – The Midland Rebels rebounded from a 75-73 loss to Fairview in the Hathaway Tournament last week and went on to win their final two games over the weekend to improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Rebels upended Hosanna Christian, 61-32, on Friday and wrapped up tournament play on Saturday with a 44-38 victory over Choudrant.
Alan Vondenstein and Darren Arceneaux paced the Rebels in the victory over Hosanna, combining for 33 points and 21 rebounds.
Vondenstein finished with a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He also had two blocked shots. Arceneaux added 16 points and nine rebounds. He was 3-for-4 from 3-point range.
Also scoring were Jake Gautreaux (16), Randy Primeaux (5), Stephen Primeaux (3), Devin Gautreaux (2) and Dylan Boudreaux (2).
Areceneaux was also the high-man in the victory over Choudrant with 19 points and three steals. Jake Gautreaux followed with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Also contributing in the victory were Devin Gautreaux with five points and Vondenstein with four. Stephen Primeaux and Randy Primeaux rounded out the scoring with two points each.
Lady Rebels
The Midland Lady Rebels defeated Hosanna, 50-28, in their second and final game of the Hathaway Tournament.
Melody Hebert led the Lady Rebels with 13 points while Kristen Breaux pitched in 12. Elizabeth Istre added eight points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals; Nicole Kraut scored six points; Katie Woods, five points and Brooke Comeaux, Kalli Benoit and Macy Hoffpauir each scored two.
