Miss Louisiana 2008 Blair Abene will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the Amite Oyster Festival Pageant

Tickets are on sale now until Friday, March 27 at 4 p.m. for the Amite Oyster Festival pageant. This pageant will select the six young ladies that will represent the Town of Amite, the oyster industry and the Amite Oyster Festival for the following year.
Tickets must be purchased in advance due to limited seating at the Amite High School Performing Arts Theatre.
Mistress of Ceremonies for the 6 p.m. event will be Blair Abene who is the reigning 2008 Miss Louisiana. 
Blair is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas and is attending Southeastern Louisiana University where she is a senior. She is majoring in Music with a minor in Mass Communications. Blair is a member of Southeastern’s “13 Club,” a recipient of Southeastern’s “Green S Award,” member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor & Service Society, Louisiana TOPS scholarship recipient, recipient of a Southeastern academic scholarship, recipient of a Southeastern Music Department vocal scholarship, recipient of the Thomas Sharp Memorial Music Scholarship, and member of the President’s Academic Honors List for 9 semesters. Blair is on the publicity and fundraising committee for Delta Omicron Professional Music Fraternity, a Hammond Special Olympics liaison to all visiting royalty, and spokesperson for the national Tourettes Syndrome Association (TSA). She was the Preliminary Talent Award and Academic Award Winner at Miss Louisiana 2008, was the second runner-up to Miss Louisiana 2007, the first runner-up and preliminary talent winner at Miss Louisiana 2006, and was the Miss Teen Louisiana 2002. Blair’s future plans are to obtain her Masters Degree in Music and minor in Mass Communications and pursue a career in opera/classical vocal performance and/or broadcast journalism.
