CROWLEY – Mrs. Mona Guidry was born July 15, 1935, in Port Authur, Texas, to the late Nona and Willis Bill Mosley Sr. and reared by Anna “Nyne” Davis. She departed this life on Feb. 17 at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley.

She was joined in marriage to the late Charles Joseph Guidry Sr. At an early age, she became a member of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church where she remained a faithful and active member until her illness. She attended Holy Rosary Institute’s Boarding School in Lafayette and was a proud member of the class of 1954. Mona Guidry was a dedicated member of the St. Theresa’s Ladies’ Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 506. She was an excellent cook and caring mother to all she met. She was well known for her open heart, listening ear, open house and hospitality.

Mona Guidry was a God-fearing woman who had unyielding faith in God and she could often be found in prayer daily. Mona Guidry was also known for her quick wit and sharp tongue. She was never one to sugar coat her words. Her most well known words to her children were: “I’m YOUR mother! I had YOU. YOU didn’t have me!”

Mona Guidry leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Charles Guidry Jr. (Gwen) of Houston, Texas, Nona Guidry (Stanford) of Crowley, Althea Fontenot of Baton Rouge, Germaine Breaux (Michael), Benjamin Phillips (Trina) and Mark Phillips (Resear), all of Lafayette, William Phillips of Baton Rouge and Melvecchio Guidry (Nicole) of Crowley; her sisters, Nora Lee Allen (Johnnie) of Port Arthur, Texas, Jeanetta Bias (Troy) and Aisha Ali (Hakeem), both of Crowley, Cynthia Miles (Amos) of Houston and Charlotte Fails (Bernie) of Detroit, Mich.; and her brothers, Willis Bill Mosley Jr. of Port Arthur and Kelvin Bias of Houston. She also leaves her love to 29 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and various nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Our life would not be the same without the special people who shared it with us. Special family members include: Tania Fontenette (Patrick), Catherine Guidry and Anna Phillips; dedicated care providers, Ms. Theresa Guillory, Linda Wilson and Rita Wheeler.

Thank you to Professional Home Health, the staff of American Legion Hospital and Crowley Dialysis Center.
