Duson - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday January, 22, 2013, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson for Nelson Joseph Falcon, who passed away on Sunday January 20, 2013. Interment follow edat St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Duson.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mildred Brasseaux Falcon; daughter Dayna Falcon and fiancé, Ricky McKey ,of Duson; daughter Charlotte Roberts and husband, Morgan Roberts, of Sandborn, Indiana; grandsons Justin Roberts and Jordan Roberts of Indiana; and brother, Joseph Austin Falcon of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Falcon and Louise Weber Falcon and sister, Joyce Falcon Stutes.

Nelson was born on August 14, 1928 in Acadia Parish.   He graduated from Rayne High School in 1945.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  

In April 1963, President John F. Kennedy appointed him as Postmaster of Duson. He served there until December 1971 when he was appointed as Postmaster of Rayne, where he served until his retirement.

During his lifetime, he was a member of various organizations including Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, NARFE, American Legion, and NAPUS.  He also volunteered his time to St. Theresa Catholic Church as trustee and lay minister for many years, to Council on Aging, and served the Town of Duson as Mayor.

Visitation was held at St. Theresa Parish Life Center in Duson on Monday January 21, 2013, from 3p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday January 22, 2013 from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Duhon Funeral Home, LLC in Rayne.
