Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Cormier passed away on Wednesday, February 06, 2013 at 2:51 P.M. in a Crowley hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of Acadia Parish/Rayne area, Mr. Cormier was a member of the Catholic faith. He was a retired farmer, and he enjoyed spending time working in his garden. His greatest joy in life was spending time with and caring for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Louise Duhon Cormier of Rayne; sons, Clifford Cormier of Rayne, and Ronald Cormier of Duson; daughter, Mary Alice Cormier of Rayne; sisters, Shirley Douga of Rayne, and Louise Trahan (who is also his Godchild) and husband, Glen of Duson; brothers, Aaron Cormier and wife, Norma of Cankton, Travis Cormier and wife, Linda of Rayne, and Raymond Cormier and wife, Lula Mae of Rayne; grandchildren, Christopher Patton and wife, Lindsay of New Orleans, Lindsey Patton of New Orleans, and Kelsey Cormier of Rayne; and brother-in-law, Robert Doucet of Rayne. He is also survived by his dog, Nugget, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mr. Cormier in death were his parents, Arvillian and Ida Lavergne Cormier; sisters, Anna Mae Doucet, Mary Jane Soileau, and Earline Richard; daughter-in-law, Verlonda Davis; and brothers-in-law, Joseph “Snook” Soileau, Lionel Douga, and Willie Richard, Jr.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. D. Thomas Curtis, MD for his compassionate medical care; and to Travis and Linda Cormier, and Monica Boone for their steadfast kindness and love as they stayed by Mr. Cormier’s side to comfort him to the very end.
