CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Pioneers locked up no worse than a tie for the District 4-3A title Tuesday evening with a 13-3 victory over Westlake at Miller Stadium.

The Pios (14-13, 7-2) can wrap up the outright title tonight with a victory over Crowley .

On Tuesday, the Pios jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the first inning, only to see Westlake rally to cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the third.

That was as close as the Rams got, however.

Notre Dame answered with a single run in the bottom of the frame and then posted seven more runs in the fourth. They added another run in the bottom of the fourth to end the game by virtue of the mercy-rule.

Connor Goss was credited with the victory after giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits in two innings of work.

Matt Venable threw one scoreless inning and Nick Gossen worked the final two frames, giving up three hits while striking out two.

Offensively, Clint Faul and Noah Touchet each had two hits and two RBI for the Pios. Goss and Brennan Corzine each doubled in a run while Venable, Gavin Bourgeois and Dillan Gilbert each had a hit and an RBI. Gossen and Hogan Guidry rounded out the nine-hit attack with a single each.
