Rayne - Funeral services will be held at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. for Ouida Glorian Jeffers Harmon Merritt, 79, who died Monday, January 24, 2011 in American Legion Hospital in Crowley, LA.

Interment will be in the Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Cemetery, Branch, LA.

Surviving are two sisters, Hazal Courts of Vidor, TX, Carlis Jeffers Cummings and husband Timothy of Colorado Springs, CO, three brothers, Lloyd Jeffers and wife Faye of Rayne, Boyd Jeffers and wife Dee of Baton Rouge, Frank Jeffers and wife Irma of Branch, two step sons, Lane Merritt and wife Faye of Many, LA, Nathan Merritt, TX, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by first husband, Arnold "CoCo" Harmon, one son, Montgomery Polk Harmon, second husband, James "Bill" Merritt, parents, Percy and Gladys Hayes Jeffers.

She was born Friday, August 7, 1931 in Branch, LA, daughter of the late Percy Polk Jeffers and the late Gladys Hayes Jeffers.

Mrs. Ouida was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Rayne.

Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until service.
