Parish basketball tourney begins

PRAIRIE BASSE - The Eunice Lady Bobcats faced Westminster Christian Academy 4 p.m. Wednesday in the tip-off game of the 2008 St. Landry Parish basketball tournament held at Beau Chene High School.

The Eunice Bobcats battled Opelousas High 7 p.m. in the final game of first round action.

If the Lady Cats win, they will take on the North Central/Beau Chene winner at 4 p.m. on Friday. If the Bobcats win, they face the Port Barre/Westminster winner 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Today’s games tip off with the Opelousas Lady Tigers taking on Port Barre at 4 p.m.

The Beau Chene Lady Gators face North Central at 5:30 p.m.

The Beau Chene Gators will battle North Central at 7 p.m.

On Friday, the top-seeded Northwest Lady Raiders will face the OHS/Port Barre winner at 7 p.m.

The top-seeded Northwest Raiders will entertain the Beau Chene/North Central winner at 8:30 p.m.

The tournament concludes Saturday with the girls consolation game at 2:30 p.m. followed by the boys consolation contest at 4 p.m.

The girls’ title game begins at 5:30 p.m.

The boys’ championship is set for 7 p.m.
