CROWLEY Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Paul Donald “Poochie” Benoit, 71, who died Feb. 23, in Crowley.

Deacon Rodless Leleux will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.

Poochie loved music, he played all instruments and in the ’60s and ’70s he was with two bands, Poochie and the Rhythm Masters and Poochie and the Dog Gones that performed in the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine McMullen Benoit of Crowley; one daughter, Karen Irene Benoit of Crowley; his mother, Mable “Mae” Mire of Crowley; two granddaughters, Kayla Benoit and Kim Gatlin.

Mr. Benoit is preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Benoit; and his father, Louis Mire.
