State Police said the accident happened about 4:30 a.m. Saturday on La. 30 in Ascension Parish.
Joshua Babin, 26, was driving his pickup south when it drifted into the path of an SUV driven by Brent Roussel, 45, of Lutcher. Babin, who was belted, was killed.
Investigation continues into why the vehicle drifted.
Driver impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash pending toxicology results.
