COVINGTON – A woman died and her one-year-old daughter was hurt when their pickup ran off I-12 and hit a tree.

State Police said Kristan Fauntleroy, 24, of Covington for unknown reasons drifted into the center grass median.

Impairment is not suspected and police did not say whether a cell phone or other electronic device was involved.

As Fauntleroy veered to the right, the pickup began to rotate clockwise as it crossed both eastbound lanes and ran off road to the south side of the highway.

Upon leaving the paved roadway, the pickup truck overturned and struck a tree before coming to rest on its left side facing a westerly direction, troopers said.
