Record heat

Temperatures over the weekend busted the 100 degree mark and the heat index climbed to over 110 Sunday. These dangerous temperatures are expected through the week this week and persons who are working outside should take extra precautions to remain hydrated.

EWE funds

Things are going nicely over at Home Bank where a fund has been established to reconsgruct a bust of former Governor Edwin Edwards on a monument at the courthouse.

John Gott came up with the idea to reconstruct the defaced monument calling it’s current state a disgrace to Crowley and Acadia Parish.

The new bronze bust will cost near $2,000 and be installed by employees of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. The donate, tax free contributions are being accepted at Home Bank here in Crowley.

Football

Don’t look now but football is just around the corner. In fact, Monday was the first day for high school teams to conduct drills and all of the parish teams were busy at work. In a mere few weeks the Jamboree will be held and then the season kicks off the following Friday.

Hopefully, cool weather will follow that.
