SCOTT – The Crowley Gents picked up their first victory of the season Tuesday, topping Lafayette High in double overtime, 66-63, in the second round of the Acadiana High Tournament.

Crowley was led by Jerrell Andrus with 16 points while Davante Bourque and Dorris Senegal each hit double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.

In other boys tournament action, Northside Christian dropped a heartbreaking 42-39 decision to Opelousas Catholic in the semifinals of the Ascension Episcopal Tournament in Lafayette.

Northside had a shot to tie the game at the end of regulation but Pierce Rivera missed a contested three-pointer at the buzzer.

Rivera and Ben Rogers each scored 12 points in the loss and Grant Williams had 10.

In girls action, Iota coach Stan Baggett picked up career victory No. 650 Tuesday when his Lady Bulldogs defeated North Vermilion, 45-35 in the second round of the Lady Patriots own tournament.

Allison Baggett led the charge, scoring 12 of her game-high 20 points in the second half. Anna Lege followed with nine points and Candace Sensat had eight.

In other tournament action, Kara Wilridge poured in 14 points in Crowley’s 49-13 victory over Breaux Bridge while Jacob Rogers and Kane Thibodeaux combined for 19 points in Notre Dame’s 50-37 victory over Iota.
