LAFAYETTE - The Ragin’ Cajuns football team made history on Monday as they accepted an invitation to the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl marking the University of Louisiana’s first bowl appearance in 41 years.

Louisiana will represent the Sun Belt Conference in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Saturday, December 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. in a live television broadcast on ESPN. The Cajuns’ opponent will be announced at a later date.

This is the school’s third bowl appearance with the last coming in 1970 when the Cajuns faced Tennessee State in the Grantland Rice Bowl held at Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

Tickets can be purchased at one of two locations. Fans can call or visit the Ragin’ Cajuns Box Office at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field (337-851-2011), or the Cajundome Box Office (337-265-2357) Tickets may also be purchased online at RaginCajuns.com.

Pricing for the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is $62 and $42.

The Moore Field Box Office will be open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Hours of operation at the Cajundome Box Office are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
