In addition to shuffling games due to weather conditions, the Lady Wolves have seen better days when it comes to district action.

In their third district game of the season, the Lady Wolves (1-2) dropped a 9-5 loss on Thursday, March 8, at Church Point.

Haley Habetz took the loss on the mound for Rayne High recording two strikeouts while allowing six hits along with a number of errors by her defense.

“Despite the score and the errors, we did get a few hits,” comments Rayne High Head Coach Deserea Dunn. “The difference was they (Church Point) got their hits with people on base and we didn’t.”

Freshman DP Cecily Schexnayder rapped a triple and RBI’s for the Lady Wolves. Ariel Meche was 2-for-4 with a double and single, and Courtney Boutin and Alex Peltier were 2-for-4 on the day.

During last weekend’s Parkview Tournament, the Lady Wolves were 1-2. They recorded a 6-3 win over E.D. White, before falling to Berwick 5-2 and Kaplan 11-0.

Due to area flooding, Tuesday’s district game at Eunice was re-scheduled for Wednesday, followed by a home district contest today (Thursday). Game results, in addition to this weekend’s Brusly Tournament, will be carried in next week’s edition.

Wolves

The Rayne High Wolves (3-8 overall) were scheduled to host Cecilia Tuesday evening, but Mother Nature had other plans. With the area flooding that took place Sunday and Monday, the game was re-scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, after our deadline. Complete results will be carried in next week’s edition.

The Wolves were able to sneak in a couple of games during the weekend Eunice Tournament, but came up empty.

In game one, the Wolves fell to Jennings, 7-4. Of the nine Rayne hits during the game, freshman hurler Hunter Keely was 2-3 scoring one run and one RBI. Teammate Brice Meche was 2-3 and an RBI. Tyler Lejeune was 1-4 with an RBI while scoring a run. Grant Abshire was 1-3 and scored one run.

Rayne High then tried their luck against the St. Ed’s, but were mercy-ruled in the fifth inning by 16-3 count.

The Wolves are slated to host Northwest today (Thursday) during their district opener. Action begins at 4 p.m with junior varsity and varsity action slated.

The Wolves will host their Round Robin this weekend on Saturday, March 17, starting at 9 a.m. when Sacred Heart of Ville Platte takes on Lagrange. Rayne High then plays Lagrange in game two. Hanson will play Scared Heart in game three, and Hanson and Rayne play in the finale of game four.

The Wolves will be at home again on Tuesday, March 20, when they take on Livonia in another district game. Action begins 4 p.m.
