A local Rayne couple was arrested Wednesday, January 10, 2012 after they allegedly held a family member against her will and beat her up.

Mr. David Joshlin (56) and Deborah Credeur (61) were arrested for false imprisonment, simple battery and theft.

The Rayne Police Department began an investigation Monday morning after receiving allegations that a mentally deficient female, who was incapable of taking care herself, was duct taped and hog tied at the residence located on 7th Street while the couple physically abused the female. The allegation from the victim stated that they stole money and prescription medication from her while she was tied up. A search warrant was executed at the couple's residence on the 400 block of 7th Street, to-which evidence to substantiate the allegations were located. Based on the physical evidence found, the victim's injuries and the suspects' statements, the Rayne Police Department elected to arrest the couple for the above related charges.

The couple immediately bonded out from the Rayne Police Department on each a $17,000 bond and will now face prosecution by the city of Rayne prosecutor's office.
