On Monday, July 18, the Rayne Police Department arrested Kellerick Geraymond Mott, a 32-year-old African-American male who resides at 810 E. Jeff Davis St., Rayne, for cultivation of marijuana, illegal possession of a firearm around controlled dangerous substances and possession of a schedule IV CDS: Lorazepam.

Chief Carroll Stelly stated that his officers developed information implicating Kellerick Mott while investigating a prescription drug ring headed by Dominique Mott, his brother, who was arrested last week.

As part of the investigation, officers went to the residence where they located a marijuana growing operation set up in a shed on the property. The growing operation was utilizing artificial light sources concealed within an enclosed building. Officers also located a semiautomatic firearm and a schedule 4 controlled dangerous substance on the property.

The investigation determined Kellerick Mott lived on the property with his grandmother. It is believed that the suspect’s grandmother did not have any prior knowledge of the marijuana operation. Therefore, she has not been charged with any criminal violations.

Chief Stelly advised that the Rayne Police Department Narcotics Division is actively investigating the prescription fraud diversion and more arrest are anticipated in the near future.
