LIVONIA – Rayne High dropped their fourth straight game Friday as they fell to the Eunice Bobcats, 35-20 leaving the Wolves still winless in district play.

“Our effort was there tonight, we just didn’t execute," stated Rayne High head coach Curt Ware. "Our turnovers really set us back, so that’s something we really need to work on."

The Wolves received the ball to start the game and they did so on a mission.

Rayne drove the ball 80 yards gaining six first downs while only facing one third down. The Wolves worked the clock to 5:02 when Brody Bourque scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. The PAT was wide and Rayne held an early 6-0 lead.

The Rayne defense looked to start the same, but a first play tackle for loss was penalized for a facemask to give the Bobcats positive yards and some momentum to get a couple first downs. Eunice's Derek Denton then scored from deep on a 34 yard touchdown pass from Trenon Trosclair. A good PAT put the Bobcats on top, 7-6.

The Wolves answered and were the next to score, this time going 70 yards capping the drive off with a 29-yard pass from Clerance Leger to Dannie Harmon for the score. A slip on the kick put the score 12-7 in favor of the Wolves.

Eunice wouldn’t go away though, as they put together an 80-yard drive of their own airing the ball out with time running down in the first half of play. A 25-yard pass Trosclair sailed over the heads of Rayne defenders and into the hands of Denton for a score. Another good PAT put the Bobcats ahead going into the half, 14-12.

Turnovers plagued the Wolves in the second half losing four out of five fumbles. In addition, the Bobcats came out to play taking the opening drive of the second half down the field, ending with a 14-yard touchdown run by Trosclair. A good PAT gave Eunice a 21-12 lead.

The Wolves were forced to punt their first possession away and the Bobcats took advantage of good field position to score for the second time of the second half on a 2-yard Trosclair pass to Travus Woods. Another PAT extended a 28-12 Bobcat lead.

The Wolves' next drive ended in a fumble at their own 46 after a first down run by Williams. But, the Bobcats are unable to capitalize and gave the Wolves the ball back at the 20. After Leger kept the ball across the 50 into Eunice territory, the ball ended up on the ground and moving the other way giving Eunice possession at the Rayne 36.

The Bobcats didn’t miss the opportunity getting into the red zone and then scoring on a 5-yard run by Jacob Jurls. A successful PAT had the Bobcats up, 35-12.

The Wolves weren’t giving up as Jalen Williams pulled the load down the field and broke a 34-yard run to get into the end zone. Williams also made room to get in for a two-point conversion to end the scoring for the evening, leaving the Wolves on the short end of a 35-20 score.

Offensively the Wolves gained 320 yards with Jalen Williams accounting for 147 of those on the ground. Leger was 1-for-4 in the air with a 28-yard touchdown.

Linebacker Billy Marcantel racked up 10 tackles on the night, while Trent Duhon finished with 7.

The Wolves take on the Northwest Raiders next week at home for Senior Night and the last regular season game.

They played alot better against Eunice than the last 3 weeks but look what your neighbors did to eunice...then there is no need to post the northwest game in here we all know what happened....The man upstairs must have been taking care of this coach cause to lose to a #49 seed when your a #19 seed and all you had to do is just win and could been hosting a first round game...thankfully the weak non-district schedule took care of you like Ville Platte 7-3, Welsh and St. Edmunds 8-2 and your district teams that tied for first....It seems that this coach has severe problems going against the district opponents...then after what i saw from the fans friday i would put a bag over my head if i was him...heck when i was there we had a guy from comeaux and his first 4 years we won a bunch of playoff games...it aggravates me when i see him with that back to back playoff shirt cause that was both first round losses....i sure hope we dont play cp friday cause its going to be ugly if its anything like northwest...
