Twenty bills have been filed to reshape congressional, state House and state Senate districts, again. Some are simply placeholders bills in case already approved by lawmakers.
But, some legislators are hoping to redesign the maps because they didn’t get what they wanted in the special session.
Also, lawmakers must spend some time remapping the eight elected districts for the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) to account for population shifts in the latest federal census data because they didn’t complete that work in the special session.
