CROWLEY – It has been a busy and productive year for the Rotary Club of Crowley and they are already looking forward to another great year, which began Tuesday night as the new officers took over.

At the club’s annual installation banquet, held at The Town Club in Crowley, Rotarians saw new officers and board members sworn in and recognized the individuals that had put in hard work all year to make the 2011-12 club year such a great success.

“It has bene a great honor and a humbling experience being your president,” said President Mike Goss, who officially became past-president Tuesday night.

“I am truly amazed by the generosity of all of this club’s members, not just monetarily speaking but by donating your time to so many wonderful causes. It truly is an amazing job you all do.

“I feel privileged to be part of an amazing group. I’m proud to say I’m a member of this club.”

Before concluding his welcome, Goss thanked his fellow officers as well as the 2011-12 board of directors for all of their help as well as the many other members who helped him throughout the year.

“If I listed everyone that helped me this year, I would just be reading out a list of our roster,” he said jokingly.

After the meal, it was time to swear in the 2012-13 officers and board members that will lead the Rotary Club of Crowley.

Swearing in the officers was Rotarian Ezora J. Proctor who pulled double duty as a club member and as the 2014-15 assistant District 6200 governor.

Sworn in as officers for the new club year were, Clay Lejeune, president; Scott Schumacher, president-elect, Mary Zaunbrecher, secretary; Troy Breaux, treasurer; Scott Privat, director (2011-13); Adrianne Vidrine, director (2011-13); Sandy Melancon, director (2012-14); Becky Lamm, director (2013-15); Jill Signorelli, director (2013-15); Ann Mire, director (2013-15); and Mike McBride, sergeant at arms.

The club then acknowledged several Rotarians’ special accomplishments.

First, 10 members were recognized for having perfect attendance throughout the year. Recording one year of perfect attendance were Chris Brammer, Gerald Dill, Vicki Ramos, Mike Goss and Dr. Bo McNeely. Recording multiple years of perfect attendance were Elliot Dore, Troy Breaux, Ezora Proctor and Paul Broussard.

Then, the club applauded the hard work of its president (Goss), secretary (Zaunbrecher) and treasurer (Breaux) as well as its community service committee chairs–Sandy Melancon (international service), Melinda Malmay (vocational service), Scott Privat (club service) and Mary Zaunbrecher (community service).

One final acknowledgement was given to those who officially became Paul Harris Fellows over the past year. Rotary International recognizes “Paul Harris Fellows” as individuals who donate $1,000 or more to the foundation.

What helped make this year so successful for not only the Rotary Club of Crowley, but Rotary International, was the PolioPlus campaign. The Crowley club donated more than $13,000 to PolioPlus. With that, several other members became Paul Harris Fellows along with three others. In total, six were honored Tuesday night.

Finally, it was time to recognize the club’s Rotarian of the Year, which is given to the club member that exceeds all expectations of a Rotarian.

As Goss explained, this year’s recipient is very active in the community through the club and through other outlets.

“She is a very humble person who doesn’t want recognition for the things she does,” said Goss of the recipient.

Goss then announced that Zaunbrecher was this year’s honoree and, true to form, after being asked for “a few words,” she gave only a few.

“Thank you very much,” she said.
