Second man charged in startling child sex case

OPELOUSAS – A second man has been arrested in the startling case of alleged sexual offenses against a three-year-old.

Police said Ricky Lavergne, 43, of 149 Bellridge Road was jailed following an investigation into the alleged inappropriate touching of the child.

He was charged with oral sexual battery.

Lavergne was one of two individuals being sought by police in this case for questioning.

Paul Rumback was arrested on May 2 and charged with aggravated incest of the same child.

Both suspects face 25 to 99 years at hard labor if convicted without the possibility of parole.
