In a statement announcing her candidacy, Smith said, “First of all, I am not running against anyone in particular, but rather I am seeking a position on the city council. As a mother of two small children, I am concerned about their future and the future of our great city. I personally feel it is time for my generation to step up to the plate and show everyone that we are ready and willing to lead.”
“I am knowledgeable about the workings of city government, as I have been attending council committee meetings as well as their regular council meetings, in order to be better informed of current issues. There are a number of concerns facing Ward 4, such as the bridge closure on South Avenue H, drainage problems, lack of code enforcement, work orders not being completed in a timely manner and the ever increasing sewer user fees,” she continued.
“I pledge to work with the mayor, city council, local and state officials to seek out solutions to these problems. I plan to run an aggressive door to door campaign. I look forward to meeting with voters to discuss their thoughts on the issues facing Ward 4 and the City of Crowley.”
“Please consider me, as your independent voice for Ward 4, Division B on the Crowley City Council. Your vote and support on Saturday, October 2, will be greatly appreciated.”
Smith, 28, is the daughter of Woody and Diana Marceaux. She is married to Blaine Smith, formerly of Rayne. She has two children, Peyton, who is six years old, and Brody, who is one years old. She graduated from Crowley High in 1999 and is a life-long resident of Ward 4. She is currently employed at Healthworks’ Gym and ATM Printing, Inc.
